Materials
Material directions by application: Oxford, polyester taffeta, pongee, ripstop base fabrics with PU, silver/UV and fluorine-free finishes.
Choose materials by application — not just by fabric code. Start with what the finished product must do; the construction and coating direction can then be reviewed against cost, handling and production requirements.
Material directions by application
| Application | What to review | Starting direction |
|---|---|---|
| Tent & camping products | Packed weight, rain exposure, tear resistance, handling | Polyester taffeta or lightweight Oxford, with the required coating and performance target |
| Vehicle & furniture covers | Outdoor exposure, surface protection, drape, abrasion, appearance | Oxford construction with PU, silver or other finishing, selected against the end use |
| Tarpaulin & industrial covers | Strength, handling, repeated exposure, waterproof performance | Higher-denier Oxford or coated polyester, subject to loading and required testing |
| Awning & canopy products | Shade, UV exposure, color, waterproofing, dimensional stability | Coated polyester or Oxford, reviewed against the structure and target service conditions |
These are starting directions, not fixed specifications. Final suitability always depends on the complete requirement and a sample review.
Base fabrics we work with
- Polyester Oxford — a base construction to consider when strength and handling matter (210D / 420D / 600D and others).
- Polyester taffeta & pongee — lighter options where hand feel and packed weight are priorities.
- Mini-ripstop — a direction to assess for weight / tear-performance balance.
- Solution-dyed polyester — a color-process option; suitability confirmed per project.
Coatings & finishes
- PU coating — review waterproofing, hand feel and coating stability for the chosen base fabric.
- Silver / UV coating — for covers where sun exposure and heat matter.
- Fluorine-free (PFAS-free) DWR — a water-repellent finish option; SGS test reports can be provided for the applicable material.
- PA and blackout coatings — discussed where relevant to the application.
Coating and finish are reviewed as a system with the base fabric — never as a standalone claim. Available directions are not verified performance claims; final construction, test method and report are confirmed for the selected material.
